Russia’s Trade with Jordan

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Jordan was $37,040,952, down 42.89% ($27,823,610) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $32,123,314, down 47.17% ($28,676,211) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $4,917,638, up 20.97% ($852,601) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $27,205,676, a 52.05% decrease ($29,528,812) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Jordan was Russia’s 97th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 91st in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0340% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0476% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Jordan was Russia’s 86th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 77th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0483% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0664% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Jordan was Russia’s 100th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 104th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0116% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0091% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Jordan

The major share of Russian exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 66.76% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (54.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 17.29% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (37.82% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.86% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (4.46% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.07% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (1.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.12% of Russia’s total exports to Jordan (0.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $995,699;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $898,524;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $212,279;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $166,747;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $164,700;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $111,219.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $17,482,886;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $10,715,336;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $1,308,400;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $591,249;
  • Sugars and sugar confectionery (HS code 17) - a decrease of $286,343;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $226,861;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $122,348;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $102,746.

Russia’s Imports from Jordan

The major share of Russian imports from Jordan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 67.32% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (75.50% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 25.67% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (17.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.53% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.78% of Russia’s total imports from Jordan (4.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);

  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $39,264;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $25,739;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $20,438.

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $110,520;

  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, knitted or crocheted (HS code 61) - a decrease of $40,985;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - a decrease of $35,785;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $18,401.
