Russia’s Trade with Lebanon

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Lebanon was $104,255,103, down 49.31% ($101,419,121) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $101,098,719, down 50.12% ($101,573,647) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $3,156,384, up 5.15% ($154,526) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $97,942,335, a 50.95% decrease ($101,728,173) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Lebanon was Russia’s 75th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 67th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0958% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1509% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Lebanon was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 52nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1521% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2214% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Lebanon was Russia’s 108th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0074% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0067% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Lebanon

The major share of Russian exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 42.83% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (7.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 27.02% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (85.37% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.58% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (2.11% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.68% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (0.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.15% of Russia’s total exports to Lebanon (2.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $30,602,743;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $10,193,996;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $6,334,568;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $1,146,367;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $882,190;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $385,532.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Lebanon in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $143,900,033;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,803,194;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,770,145;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $1,667,907;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $1,656,192;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,138,418.
