Russia’s Trade with Sri Lanka

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Sri Lanka was $86,990,017, down 10.77% ($10,494,880) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $18,731,077, down 36.26% ($10,653,594) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $68,258,940, up 0.23% ($158,714) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $49,527,863, a 27.93% increase ($10,812,308) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 80th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0799% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0715% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 96th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0282% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0321% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 59th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 58th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1610% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1520% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 57.81% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (60.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 20.77% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (26.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 18.26% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (7.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
