Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan was $171,581,494, down 3.15% ($5,579,801) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $167,769,505, up 2.24% ($3,671,984) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $3,811,989, down 70.82% ($9,251,785) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $163,957,516, a 8.56% increase ($12,923,769) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 69th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 72nd in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1576% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1299% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 53rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 58th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2525% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1793% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 104th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 90th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0090% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0292% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 28.05% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (39.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 20.94% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (18.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 16.65% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (7.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.89% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (14.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.79% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (10.37% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2016 over the 2nd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $17,760,981;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $3,395,103;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,278,300;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $2,121,823;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $822,737.
