Russia’s Trade with Egypt

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Egypt was $661,729,704, down 11.23% ($83,751,174) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $620,875,201, down 13.07% ($93,376,554) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $40,854,503, up 30.82% ($9,625,380) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $580,020,698, a 15.08% decrease ($103,001,934) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Egypt was Russia’s 36th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 31st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5427% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.5874% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Egypt was Russia’s 29th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8630% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.8981% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Egypt was Russia’s 71st largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 78th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0817% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0659% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 36.51% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (43.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 25.06% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (14.48% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.54% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (19.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.53% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (11.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.41% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (7.75% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $16,349,564;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $7,762,905;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $5,611,281;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $2,659,847.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Egypt in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $76,078,566;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $44,769,742;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $33,810,799;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $29,934,116;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $5,916,681;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $4,023,986;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $3,353,667;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,236,253;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $2,443,061;
