Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $612,972,000, up 26.20% ($127,255,442) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $103,967,877, up 52.74% ($35,901,038) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $509,004,123, up 21.87% ($91,354,404) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $405,036,246, a 15.86% increase ($55,453,366) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Indonesia was Russia’s 39th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 41st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5028% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3827% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 68th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 77th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1445% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0856% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 21st largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 26th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.0185% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8813% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 47.12% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (10.17% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 29.61% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (49.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.15% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (18.71% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.51% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (6.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.35% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (13.58% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $40,631,311;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $7,633,703;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $2,869,540;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $1,432,590;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $444,978.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $8,224,500;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $5,898,138;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,570,221;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $879,643;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $450,306;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $421,494.
