Russia’s Trade with Kazakhstan

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Kazakhstan was $3,268,961,868, down 13.73% ($520,318,493) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $2,399,741,291, down 8.12% ($211,999,030) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $869,220,577, down 26.18% ($308,319,463) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $1,530,520,714, a 6.72% increase ($96,320,433) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 12th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 10th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 2.6812% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.9857% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 10th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 3.3355% of Russia’s total exports (up from 3.2841% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Kazakhstan was Russia’s 11th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 10th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.7392% of Russia’s total imports (down from 2.4848% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Kazakhstan

The major share of Russian exports to Kazakhstan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.11% of Russia’s total exports to Kazakhstan (13.82% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
