Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Macedonia totaled $25,930,819, up 2.70% ($682,641) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $7,739,456, up 71.42% ($3,224,678) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $18,191,363, down 12.26% ($2,542,037) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $10,451,907, a 35.56% decrease ($5,766,715) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Macedonia was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 116th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0213% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0199% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Macedonia was Russia’s 123rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 132nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0108% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0057% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Macedonia was Russia’s 86th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 84th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0364% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0438% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 75.74% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (69.09% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 10.69% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (6.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.50% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (16.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $2,738,358;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $175,683;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $45,190.
