Russia’s Trade with Mexico

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Mexico totaled $437,583,844, up 22.70% ($80,953,829) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $282,747,421, up 26.87% ($59,884,856) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $154,836,423, up 15.75% ($21,068,973) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $127,910,998, a 43.57% increase ($38,815,883) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Mexico was Russia’s 47th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 46th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3589% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2810% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Mexico was Russia’s 43rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 52nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3930% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2802% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Mexico was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 46th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3098% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2823% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Mexico

The major share of Russian exports to Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 77.41% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (72.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.63% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (7.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.00% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (9.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.01% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (3.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.59% of Russia’s total exports to Mexico (4.70% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $55,615,521;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $10,422,316;
  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $5,050,000;
  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - an increase of $3,119,907;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,381,184.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mexico in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,993,058;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,939,193;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $2,785,557;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,982,917;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $1,428,898;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,166,739.
