Russia’s Trade with New Zealand

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with New Zealand was $74,100,917, down 56.46% ($96,083,046) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $38,587,778, down 72.02% ($99,307,885) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $35,513,139, up 9.99% ($3,224,839) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $3,074,639, a 97.09% decrease ($102,532,724) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

New Zealand was Russia’s 85th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 73rd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0608% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1341% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

New Zealand was Russia’s 90th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 61st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0536% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1734% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

New Zealand was Russia’s 74th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 77th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0711% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0681% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to New Zealand

The major share of Russian exports to New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 94.55% of Russia’s total exports to New Zealand (99.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.51% of Russia’s total exports to New Zealand (0.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $275,417;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $190,170;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $189,744.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to New Zealand in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $100,049,060;
  • Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns, twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof (HS code 56) - a decrease of $176,455;
  • Ceramic products (HS code 69) - a decrease of $146,803.
