Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $80,681,717, up 13.13% ($9,361,702) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $29,874,079, up 20.62% ($5,106,611) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $50,807,638, up 9.14% ($4,255,091) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $20,933,559, a 3.91% decrease ($851,520) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Pakistan was Russia’s 84th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 90th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0662% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0562% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Pakistan was Russia’s 94th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 103rd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0415% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0311% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Pakistan was Russia’s 65th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 66th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1017% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0982% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 37.69% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (51.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 25.67% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (23.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.73% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (9.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.91% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (7.19% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.47% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (3.14% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.06% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (2.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $1,621,422;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $407,703;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $109,421;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $94,845.
