Russia’s Trade with Spain

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Spain was $1,300,051,578, down 18.79% ($300,833,585) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Spain in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $676,492,050, down 3.07% ($21,420,194) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Spain in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $623,559,528, down 30.94% ($279,413,391) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade with Spain went from a deficit of $205,060,675 in the 3rd quarter of 2015, to a surplus of $52,932,522 in the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Spain was Russia’s 20th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 19th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.0663% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.2614% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Spain was Russia’s 25th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 22nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.9403% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.8776% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Spain was Russia’s 19th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 14th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.2477% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.9054% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Spain

The major share of Russian exports to Spain in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 82.73% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (74.91% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.35% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (17.79% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.60% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (2.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.01% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (3.24% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Spain in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $7,547,405.
