Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,467,818,903, up 45.11% ($456,306,787) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $965,667,846, up 84.93% ($443,476,950) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $502,151,057, up 2.62% ($12,829,837) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $463,516,789, a 1,310.17% increase ($430,647,113) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Switzerland was Russia’s 18th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 24th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.2039% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7970% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 33rd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.3422% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.6566% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 23rd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.0048% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0326% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 23.39% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (40.77% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 22.93% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (19.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
