Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan was $176,982,790, down 18.76% ($40,873,970) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $169,088,414, down 17.61% ($36,145,959) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $7,894,376, down 37.46% ($4,728,011) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $161,194,038, a 16.31% decrease ($31,417,948) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 68th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 67th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1452% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1717% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 57th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 54th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2350% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.2581% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 99th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 91st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0158% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0266% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 28.97% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (41.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 22.87% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (15.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.96% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (9.43% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.61% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (9.98% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.21% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (14.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.08% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (5.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

  • Soap, organic surface-active agents, washing preparations, lubricating preparations, artificial waxes, prepared waxes, polishing or scouring preparations, candles and similar articles, modeling pastes, "dental waxes" and dental preparations with a basis of plaster (HS code 34) - an increase of $834,488;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $630,072;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $625,589.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $35,243,654;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $18,414,283;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $4,714,939;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $2,451,938;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $1,933,103;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,862,537;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,600,471;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $1,442,815;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,395,277;
