Russia’s Trade with Tanzania

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Tanzania was $30,205,960, down 29.96% ($12,923,762) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $18,978,358, down 26.29% ($6,769,433) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $11,227,602, down 35.41% ($6,154,329) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $7,750,756, a 7.35% decrease ($615,104) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Tanzania was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 101st in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0248% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0340% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Tanzania was Russia’s 102nd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 100th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0264% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0324% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Tanzania was Russia’s 93rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 88th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0225% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0367% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Tanzania

The major share of Russian exports to Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 76.25% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (58.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.02% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (5.85% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.69% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (9.94% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 3.22% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (0.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.61% of Russia’s total exports to Tanzania (24.47% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $560,720;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $190,968;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $77,947.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tanzania in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,932,259;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,860,845;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $609,129;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $250,289;
  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - a decrease of $81,444;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - a decrease of $60,465.
