Russia’s Trade with Algeria

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Algeria totaled $1,606,502,736, up 31.76% ($387,213,300) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $1,604,318,426, up 31.68% ($385,943,464) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $2,184,310, up 138.86% ($1,269,836) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $1,602,134,116, a 31.60% increase ($384,673,628) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Algeria was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 26th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.1789% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.9324% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Algeria was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 19th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.9136% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.4780% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Algeria was Russia’s 116th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 126th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0042% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0019% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Algeria

The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 39.98% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (33.98% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.71% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (2.41% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.67% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (4.71% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $17,643,553;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $12,171,257;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $10,930,662.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $28,994,237;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $16,817,932;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $13,286,179;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - a decrease of $5,907,140.
