Russia’s Trade with Argentina

In 2016, Russia’s trade with Argentina was $847,028,011, down 10.53% ($99,648,239) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2016 totaled $163,004,044, up 33.64% ($41,033,294) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Argentina in 2016 were $684,023,967, down 17.06% ($140,681,533) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Argentina in 2016 was $521,019,923, a 25.86% decrease ($181,714,827) over 2015.

Argentina was Russia’s 64th largest trading partner in 2016 (just as in 2015), accounting for 0.1811% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1799% in 2015).

Argentina was Russia’s 88th largest export market in 2016 (up from 93rd in 2015), accounting for 0.0571% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0355% in 2015).

Argentina was Russia’s 41st largest supplier in 2016 (down from 38th in 2015), accounting for 0.3753% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4515% in 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Argentina

The major share of Russian exports to Argentina in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 48.88% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (31.22% in 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 39.48% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (39.22% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.52% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (16.11% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.31% of Russia’s total exports to Argentina (8.91% in 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Argentina in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $11,407,700;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $3,998,395;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $2,336,106;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,304,844;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $1,072,573;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $875,691;

Russia’s Imports from Argentina

The major share of Russian imports from Argentina in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
