The top ten Russia’s trade partners in Asia in 2016 were China (14.1332% of Russia’s total foreign trade), Japan (3.4343%), Turkey (3.3876%), South Korea (3.2368%), Kazakhstan (2.7876%), India (1.6483%), Taiwan (0.9228%), Vietnam (0.8206%), Uzbekistan (0.5828%), and Indonesia (0.5592%);

The top ten Russia’s export markets in Asia in 2016 were China (9.8151% of Russia’s total exports), Turkey (4.7981%), South Korea (3.5122%), Kazakhstan (3.3020%), Japan (3.2870%), India (1.8609%), Taiwan (0.9469%), Uzbekistan (0.6883%), Iran (0.6591%), and Singapore (0.6293%);

The top ten Russia’s import suppliers from Asia in 2016 were China (20.8969% of Russia’s total imports), Japan (3.6650%), South Korea (2.8055%), Kazakhstan (1.9819%), Vietnam (1.3526%), India (1.3153%), Indonesia (1.2138%), Turkey (1.1783%), Taiwan (0.8851%), and Malaysia (0.6608%).

The most notable changes in Russia's trade with the countries of Asia in 2016 over 2015:

  • The share of Japan in Russia’s total exports declined from 4.2193% in 2015 to 3.2870% in 2016;
  • The share of Iran in Russia’s total exports rose 2.2-fold from 0.2961% in 2015 to 0.6591% in 2016;
  • The share of Kazakhstan in Russia’s total imports declined from 2.6175% in 2015 to 1.9819% in 2016;
  • The share of Turkey in Russia’s total imports declined from 2.2152% in 2015 to 1.1783% in 2016;
  • The share of Turkmenistan in Russia’s total imports rose 4.5-fold from 0.0402% in 2015 to 0.1817% in 2016.
