Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Ecuador was $356,738,350, down 5.24% ($19,717,334) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $40,988,291, down 35.39% ($22,447,889) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $315,750,059, up 0.87% ($2,730,555) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $274,761,768, a 10.09% increase ($25,178,444) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Ecuador was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2618% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2879% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Ecuador was Russia’s 85th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 76th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0489% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0770% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Ecuador was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 33rd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.6022% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.6476% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 33.36% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (28.57% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 30.46% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (19.21% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 14.93% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (4.25% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.22% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (39.65% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,199,099;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $470,014;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $366,895;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $228,810;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $132,676.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $11,419,067;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $8,431,743;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,979,534;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $3,362,159;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,636,539.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.95% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.99% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $18,714,501;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $10,394,702;
