In 2016, Russia’s trade with Egypt totaled $4,156,242,364, up 1.64% ($67,139,766) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Egypt in 2016 totaled $3,782,803,987, up 2.92% ($107,330,239) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Egypt in 2016 were $373,438,377, down 9.72% ($40,190,473) from 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Egypt in 2016 was $3,409,365,610, a 4.52% increase ($147,520,712) over 2015.

Egypt was Russia’s 26th largest trading partner in 2016 (just as in 2015), accounting for 0.8886% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7770% in 2015).

Egypt was Russia’s 20th largest export market in 2016 (down from 19th in 2015), accounting for 1.3250% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.0697% in 2015).

Egypt was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in 2016 (down from 54th in 2015), accounting for 0.2049% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2264% in 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Egypt

The major share of Russian exports to Egypt in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 32.73% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (27.74% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.81% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (13.52% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.52% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (18.43% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 9.01% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (12.97% in 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.61% of Russia’s total exports to Egypt (8.94% in 2015);

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $89,016,317;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $65,266,515;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $41,658,380;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $41,111,441;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $14,657,095.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Egypt in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $145,191,298;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $126,627,488;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $68,083,696;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $15,258,985.
