Russia’s Trade with Ghana

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Ghana totaled $58,700,063, up 24.97% ($11,727,159) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $32,764,911, up 25.72% ($6,702,107) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $25,935,152, up 24.03% ($5,025,052) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $6,829,759, a 32.55% increase ($1,677,055) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Ghana was Russia’s 96th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 98th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0431% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0359% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 97th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0391% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0316% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0495% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0433% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 43.82% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (19.13% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 39.24% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (54.21% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 13.49% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (18.13% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.67% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (7.76% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $9,319,776;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $112,061.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,270,529;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,146,523;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $189,288;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $111,991.
