Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In 2016, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $2,615,664,572, up 33.34% ($654,048,945) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2016 were $403,428,335, down 8.12% ($35,663,280) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in 2016 totaled $2,212,236,237, up 45.30% ($689,712,225) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in 2016 was $1,808,807,902, a 66.95% increase ($725,375,505) over 2015.

Indonesia was Russia’s 37th largest trading partner in 2016 (up from 43rd in 2015), accounting for 0.5592% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3727% in 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 67th largest export market in 2016 (down from 66th in 2015), accounting for 0.1413% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1278% in 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 21st largest supplier in 2016 (up from 27th in 2015), accounting for 1.2138% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8334% in 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 36.97% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (41.79% in 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.43% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (30.50% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.71% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (9.19% in 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.40% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (10.07% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.35% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (7.52% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.39% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (0.80% in 2015).

  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $2,163,119;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $2,149,424;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,815,043;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - an increase of $1,694,861.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $39,558,784;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $15,025,819;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $12,159,847;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $10,563,833;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $4,668,902;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $2,799,859.

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 8.19% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (10.97% in 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.95% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (12.55% in 2015);
