Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $964,615,883, up 92.03% ($462,297,242) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $118,305,777, up 10.27% ($11,014,024) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $846,310,106, up 114.24% ($451,283,218) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $728,004,329, a 153.01% increase ($440,269,194) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Indonesia was Russia’s 32nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 44th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.7079% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3841% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 68th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 65th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1411% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1302% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Indonesia was Russia’s 13th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 29th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.6141% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8172% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 25.92% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (31.23% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 25.78% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (51.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.52% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (8.40% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.28% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (4.63% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 7.02% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (2.70% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.22% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.44% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $6,174,067;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $5,290,080;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $971,854;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $595,518;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $558,998;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $549,413;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $406,374.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $25,886,828;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,937,339;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $1,646,490;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $665,052;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $420,556;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $419,674;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $354,918.

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.82% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (11.46% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
