In 2016, Russia’s trade with Ireland totaled $1,214,294,823, up 10.00% ($110,431,770) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in 2016 totaled $316,969,051, up 16.09% ($43,927,281) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in 2016 totaled $897,325,772, up 8.00% ($66,504,489) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in 2016 was $580,356,721, a 4.05% increase ($22,577,208) over 2015.

Ireland was Russia’s 54th largest trading partner in 2016 (up from 59th in 2015), accounting for 0.2596% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2098% in 2015).

Ireland was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in 2016 (up from 75th in 2015), accounting for 0.1110% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0795% in 2015).

Ireland was Russia’s 33rd largest supplier in 2016 (up from 37th in 2015), accounting for 0.4923% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4548% in 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 26.04% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (32.05% in 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.65% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (40.75% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.07% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (2.41% in 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.94% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.61% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.65% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (2.19% in 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ireland in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,566,855;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,349,309;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,161,517.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $44,957,516;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $4,963,148.

Russia’s Imports from Ireland

The major share of Russian imports from Ireland in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 31.70% of Russia’s total imports from Ireland (34.38% in 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.07% of Russia’s total imports from Ireland (13.36% in 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ireland in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Ireland in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $27,882,359;
  • Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - a decrease of $13,298,943;
