Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Macedonia totaled $36,652,321, up 8.80% ($2,963,287) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $11,771,577, down 9.57% ($1,245,295) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $24,880,744, up 20.36% ($4,208,582) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $13,109,167, a 71.24% increase ($5,453,877) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Macedonia was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 107th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0269% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0258% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Macedonia was Russia’s 111th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 115th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0140% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0158% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Macedonia was Russia’s 86th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 84th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0475% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0428% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 61.66% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (89.68% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 21.02% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (0.53% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.23% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (0.76% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.60% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (6.70% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.02% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (0.53% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.46% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.46% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,404,736;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $786,822;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $316,181;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $102,544;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $82,818;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $61,690.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $4,439,776;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $255,934;
  • Vegetable plaiting materials; vegetable products not elsewhere specified or included (HS code 14) - a decrease of $168,231;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $42,905;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $35,923.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 68.63% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (69.98% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.57% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (14.62% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 7.47% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (7.70% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.75% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (6.15% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $233,189;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $227,972.
