Russia’s Trade with Malaysia

In 2016, Russia’s trade with Malaysia totaled $2,176,428,971, up 11.56% ($225,590,347) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Malaysia in 2016 totaled $972,114,236, up 52.93% ($336,461,149) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Malaysia in 2016 were $1,204,314,735, down 8.43% ($110,870,802) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Malaysia in 2016 was $232,200,499, a 65.83% decrease ($447,331,951) over 2015.

Malaysia was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in 2016 (up from 44th in 2015), accounting for 0.4653% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3707% in 2015).

Malaysia was Russia’s 45th largest export market in 2016 (up from 58th in 2015), accounting for 0.3405% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1850% in 2015).

Malaysia was Russia’s 31st largest supplier in 2016 (down from 30th in 2015), accounting for 0.6608% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.7199% in 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Malaysia in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.83% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (33.16% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 4.44% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (6.77% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.53% of Russia’s total exports to Malaysia (1.86% in 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Malaysia in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
