Russia’s Trade with Moldova

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Moldova totaled $372,630,378, up 21.23% ($65,258,940) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Moldova in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $280,239,887, up 9.44% ($24,161,809) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Moldova in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $92,390,491, up 80.12% ($41,097,131) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Moldova in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $187,849,396, a 8.27% decrease ($16,935,322) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Moldova was Russia’s 52nd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 60th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2735% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2351% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Moldova was Russia’s 47th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 52nd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3343% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3107% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Moldova was Russia’s 60th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 65th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1762% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1061% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Moldova

The major share of Russian exports to Moldova in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 69.71% of Russia’s total exports to Moldova (70.48% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 10.18% of Russia’s total exports to Moldova (9.54% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Moldova in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,117,740;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $929,826.
