Russia’s Trade with Nicaragua

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Nicaragua was $1,977,846, down 81.61% ($8,778,910) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $634,991, down 92.93% ($8,340,991) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $1,342,855, down 24.59% ($437,919) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade with Nicaragua went from a surplus of $7,195,208 in the 4th quarter of 2015, to a deficit of $707,864 in the 4th quarter of 2016.

Nicaragua was Russia’s 155th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 132nd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0015% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0082% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 158th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 123rd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0008% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0109% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 124th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 118th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0026% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0037% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Nicaragua

The major share of Russian exports to Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 90.14% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (1.26% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.39% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (34.37% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.37% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (0.24% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (1.20% in the 4th quarter of 2015).
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.00% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (62.89% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $436,396;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $29,605;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $14,450;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $2,059.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $2,981,867;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $108,000;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $60,623;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $21,923;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $6,611;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $3,136.

Russia’s Imports from Nicaragua

The major share of Russian imports from Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 96.86% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (99.05% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.63% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (0.67% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - a decrease of $139,391.
