Russia’s Trade with Papua New Guinea

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Papua New Guinea totaled $1,080,199, up 4.59% ($47,356) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Papua New Guinea in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $258,736, down 4.99% ($13,586) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Papua New Guinea in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $821,463, up 8.01% ($60,942) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Papua New Guinea in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $562,727, a 15.27% increase ($74,528) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Papua New Guinea was Russia’s 164th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 163rd in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0008% of Russia’s total trade (just as in the 4th quarter of 2015).

  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $4,510;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $3,302;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $2,700;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $2,514.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Papua New Guinea in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $115,107;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,510;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $3,200.
