Russia’s Trade with Slovakia

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Slovakia was $1,226,520,623, down 0.46% ($5,694,158) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $676,439,805, down 9.06% ($67,421,753) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $550,080,818, up 12.64% ($61,727,595) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $126,358,987, a 50.55% decrease ($129,149,348) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Slovakia was Russia’s 26th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 25th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.9001% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9423% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Slovakia was Russia’s 27th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 26th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.8069% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9024% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Slovakia was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 25th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.0491% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.0103% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Slovakia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 88.06% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (91.36% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.45% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (4.30% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.39% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (0.70% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.96% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (2.87% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $18,570,713;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $11,446,003;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $2,567,747.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $95,506,783;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $3,092,706;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $2,565,883.

Russia’s Imports from Slovakia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovakia in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 82.53% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (83.75% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.72% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (7.22% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.30% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (2.03% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.04% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (1.02% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.03% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (1.55% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $6,808,195;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $5,411,856;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $3,469,074.
