Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In 2016, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $990,671,116, up 0.95% ($9,348,766) from 2015.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2016 totaled $183,028,514, up 59.33% ($68,156,145) from 2015.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in 2016 were $807,642,602, down 6.79% ($58,807,379) from 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in 2016 was $624,614,088, a 16.89% decrease ($126,963,524) over 2015.

Slovenia was Russia’s 59th largest trading partner in 2016 (up from 62nd in 2015), accounting for 0.2118% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1865% in 2015).

Slovenia was Russia’s 86th largest export market in 2016 (up from 94th in 2015), accounting for 0.0641% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0334% in 2015).

Slovenia was Russia’s 36th largest supplier in 2016 (down from 34th in 2015), accounting for 0.4431% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4743% in 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 67.08% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (35.12% in 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 22.34% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (47.13% in 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.98% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (8.45% in 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.41% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (2.53% in 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.40% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (1.90% in 2015);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $82,444,923;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $825,117;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - an increase of $779,329.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in 2016 over 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $5,942,078;
  • Nickel and articles thereof (HS code 75) - a decrease of $4,875,464;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - a decrease of $2,778,601;

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.36% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.58% in 2015);
