Russia’s exports in 2016 were $285,491 million, down 16.91% ($58,106 million) from 2015.
Russia’s imports in 2016 were $182,262 million, down 0.23% ($416 million) from 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus in 2016 was $103,229 million, a 35.85% decrease ($57,690 million) over 2015.

The major share of Russian exports in 2016 (and in 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 59.18% of Russia’s total exports (63.80% in 2015);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.18% of Russia’s total exports (9.59% in 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.28% of Russia’s total exports (7.38% in 2015);
