Russia’s Trade with Austria

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Austria totaled $748,777,028, up 34.36% ($191,476,133) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $337,030,524, up 62.27% ($129,335,390) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $411,746,504, up 17.77% ($62,140,743) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $74,715,980, a 47.35% decrease ($67,194,647) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Austria was Russia’s 35th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.5825% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5741% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Austria was Russia’s 39th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 48th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4044% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3389% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Austria was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9106% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9766% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Austria

The major share of Russian exports to Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 91.09% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (82.56% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.63% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (5.12% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.44% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (4.17% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.89% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (2.78% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.04% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (2.53% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.32% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (1.29% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $123,458,322;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $12,009,315.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Austria in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - a decrease of $1,627,341;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $1,609,544;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $1,448,843;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,347,183.
