Russia’s Trade with Ecuador

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ecuador totaled $400,291,786, up 6.93% ($25,932,510) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $51,374,181, up 48.75% ($16,837,419) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $348,917,605, up 2.68% ($9,095,091) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $297,543,424, a 2.54% decrease ($7,742,328) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Ecuador was Russia’s 46th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 45th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3114% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3856% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 82nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 86th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0616% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0564% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Ecuador was Russia’s 30th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 27th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7717% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9493% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ecuador

The major share of Russian exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 52.06% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (31.79% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.97% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (16.83% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 13.20% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (15.97% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.59% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (33.51% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.79% of Russia’s total exports to Ecuador (1.17% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $9,582,319;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $9,103,847;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $3,611,211;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,868,097;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,130,668;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $468,745;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $228,381;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $174,764.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $7,583,849;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,341,572;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,319,748.

Russia’s Imports from Ecuador

The major share of Russian imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.99% of Russia’s total imports from Ecuador (99.99% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Ecuador in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $14,954,386;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - an increase of $6,425,870;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - an increase of $3,363,205.
