Russia’s Trade with Israel

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Israel totaled $572,575,064, up 26.01% ($118,173,832) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $378,498,516, up 39.74% ($107,648,234) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Israel in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $194,076,548, up 5.73% ($10,525,598) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Israel in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $184,421,968, a 111.25% increase ($97,122,636) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Israel was Russia’s 40th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 38th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4454% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4681% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Israel was Russia’s 38th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 42nd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4542% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4420% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Israel was Russia’s 40th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 35th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4292% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5128% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Israel

The major share of Russian exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 39.42% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (20.54% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 38.43% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (56.47% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 10.00% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (8.60% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.07% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (2.84% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.03% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (6.24% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $11,747,584;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $5,037,617;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $5,005,200;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,604,075;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - an increase of $1,489,011.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $7,476,282;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,774,432;
  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - a decrease of $1,470,582.
