Russia’s Trade with Tunisia

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Tunisia totaled $158,988,340, up 48.87% ($52,194,990) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $121,290,398, up 53.30% ($42,172,254) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $37,697,942, up 36.22% ($10,022,736) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $83,592,456, a 62.50% increase ($32,149,518) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Tunisia was Russia’s 70th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 74th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1237% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1100% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Tunisia was Russia’s 63rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 67th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1455% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1291% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Tunisia was Russia’s 72nd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 73rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0834% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0773% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Tunisia

The major share of Russian exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 68.84% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (44.31% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 16.08% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (13.18% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.12% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (19.57% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.93% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (2.20% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.99% of Russia’s total exports to Tunisia (19.82% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $62,141,239;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $7,736,507;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $1,767,091;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $1,093,430;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $468,534;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $425,283.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $13,703,225;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $13,251,956;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,590,516;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,242,691;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $1,182,494;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $661,129.

Russia’s Imports from Tunisia

The major share of Russian imports from Tunisia in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 64.09% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (67.86% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 14.55% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (11.15% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.09% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (17.03% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.93% of Russia’s total imports from Tunisia (0.50% in the 1st quarter of 2016).
