Russia’s Trade with Uruguay

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Uruguay totaled $31,722,891, up 7.66% ($2,257,920) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2017 were $4,176,435, down 65.11% ($7,793,470) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $27,546,456, up 57.45% ($10,051,390) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $23,370,021, a 322.97% increase ($17,844,860) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Uruguay was Russia’s 107th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 105th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0247% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0304% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Uruguay was Russia’s 123rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 103rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0050% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0195% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Uruguay was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 86th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0609% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0489% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Uruguay

The major share of Russian exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 48.51% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (6.08% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 40.81% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (92.69% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.43% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (0.00% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.85% of Russia’s total exports to Uruguay (1.14% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $325,067;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $225,976;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $55,352;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $33,584;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $24,251;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $19,543.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Uruguay in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $9,902,103;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $18,051;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $16,794.

Russia’s Imports from Uruguay
