Russia’s Trade with Azerbaijan

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Azerbaijan totaled $962,899,473, up 105.05% ($493,307,453) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Azerbaijan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $719,485,174, up 130.47% ($407,307,175) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Azerbaijan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $243,414,299, up 54.63% ($86,000,278) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Azerbaijan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $476,070,875, a 207.61% increase ($321,306,897) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Azerbaijan was Russia’s 30th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 40th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6890% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.4315% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Azerbaijan was Russia’s 27th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 37th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8568% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4698% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Azerbaijan was Russia’s 41st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 47th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4363% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3713% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Azerbaijan

The major share of Russian exports to Azerbaijan in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 38.99% of Russia’s total exports to Azerbaijan (11.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 21.15% of Russia’s total exports to Azerbaijan (37.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.44% of Russia’s total exports to Azerbaijan (18.92% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.73% of Russia’s total exports to Azerbaijan (13.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
