Russia’s Trade with Ireland

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Ireland totaled $342,854,343, up 16.62% ($48,860,166) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $76,115,832, up 80.23% ($33,883,032) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $266,738,511, up 5.95% ($14,977,134) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $190,622,679, a 9.02% decrease ($18,905,898) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Ireland was Russia’s 53rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 50th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2453% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2701% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Ireland was Russia’s 76th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 82nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0906% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0636% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Ireland was Russia’s 36th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 32nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4782% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.5939% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Ireland

The major share of Russian exports to Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.76% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (40.65% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.78% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (48.78% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.02% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.64% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.95% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (1.93% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.87% of Russia’s total exports to Ireland (4.79% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $957,122;

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $492,037;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - an increase of $237,369.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ireland in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $4,913,060;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $696,757;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $640,235.
