Russia’s Trade with Italy

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Italy totaled $6,140,928,264, up 20.33% ($1,037,319,316) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $3,692,649,241, up 17.71% ($555,646,651) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $2,448,279,023, up 24.49% ($481,672,665) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $1,244,370,218, a 6.32% increase ($73,973,986) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Italy was Russia’s 5th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 4.3940% of Russia’s total trade (down from 4.6892% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Italy was Russia’s 6th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 4.3974% of Russia’s total exports (down from 4.7210% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Italy

The major share of Russian exports to Italy in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.19% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (84.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.79% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (6.59% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 4.15% of Russia’s total exports to Italy (3.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
