Russia’s Trade with Macedonia

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Macedonia was $30,122,197, down 29.19% ($12,414,803) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $5,659,400, down 76.85% ($18,792,069) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $24,462,797, up 35.26% ($6,377,266) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Macedonia went from a surplus of $6,365,938 in the 2nd quarter of 2016, to a deficit of $18,803,397 in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Macedonia was Russia’s 111th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 95th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0216% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0391% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 124th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 91st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0067% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0368% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Macedonia was Russia’s 83rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0439% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0427% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Macedonia

The major share of Russian exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 55.66% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (87.98% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.90% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.94% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.56% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (1.38% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.25% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (2.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.02% of Russia’s total exports to Macedonia (5.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $24,051.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $18,386,474;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $1,141,530;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $131,129;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $101,270;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $81,584;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $69,137.

Russia’s Imports from Macedonia

The major share of Russian imports from Macedonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 75.68% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (74.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.59% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (13.01% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 9.28% of Russia’s total imports from Macedonia (9.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
