Russia’s Trade with Nicaragua

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Nicaragua totaled $12,430,761, up 107.56% ($6,441,798) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $8,241,790, up 180.15% ($5,299,917) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $4,188,971, up 37.47% ($1,141,881) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Nicaragua went from a deficit of $105,217 in the 2nd quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $4,052,819 in the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Nicaragua was Russia’s 127th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 133rd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0089% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0055% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 118th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 125th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0098% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0044% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Nicaragua was Russia’s 107th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 110th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0075% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0072% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Nicaragua

The major share of Russian exports to Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 78.80% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.02% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (85.69% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.32% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (8.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.05% of Russia’s total exports to Nicaragua (0.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $75,972.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,388,810;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $150,454;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $133,493;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $72,785.

Russia’s Imports from Nicaragua

The major share of Russian imports from Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.49% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (99.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.29% of Russia’s total imports from Nicaragua (0.44% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Nicaragua in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
