Russia’s Trade with Paraguay

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Paraguay was $176,640,998, down 12.06% ($24,218,841) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $12,971,122, up 400.00% ($10,376,880) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Paraguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $163,669,876, down 17.45% ($34,595,721) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Paraguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $150,698,754, a 22.98% decrease ($44,972,601) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Paraguay was Russia’s 69th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 66th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1264% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1845% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Paraguay was Russia’s 109th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 130th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0154% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0039% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Paraguay was Russia’s 50th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 39th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2934% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4677% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Paraguay

The major share of Russian exports to Paraguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 62.00% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (55.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 34.94% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (35.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.65% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (6.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.55% of Russia’s total exports to Paraguay (2.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $6,580,769;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $3,600,416;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $54,821;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $51,909;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $43,644.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Paraguay in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $56,553.
