Russia’s Trade with Portugal

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Portugal totaled $286,394,662, up 30.77% ($67,391,564) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $179,821,221, up 39.84% ($51,226,564) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $106,573,441, up 17.88% ($16,165,000) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Portugal in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $73,247,780, a 91.82% increase ($35,061,564) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Portugal was Russia’s 60th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 61st in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2049% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2012% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 54th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 59th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2141% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1935% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 55th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 56th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1910% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2133% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 90.52% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (79.53% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.64% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (3.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.22% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (3.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.99% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (7.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.69% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (3.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,960,129;

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $3,211,713;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $2,089,307;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $1,418,390;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $728,188.
