Russia’s Trade with Slovakia

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovakia totaled $1,217,019,963, up 16.88% ($175,765,063) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $728,769,513, up 12.76% ($82,448,593) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $488,250,450, up 23.63% ($93,316,470) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $240,519,063, a 4.32% decrease ($10,867,877) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Slovakia was Russia’s 25th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 24th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8708% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.9567% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Slovakia was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 22nd in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8679% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.9727% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Slovakia was Russia’s 26th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 25th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8752% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9316% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovakia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 89.27% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (90.21% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.76% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (4.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.80% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (2.77% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.25% of Russia’s total exports to Slovakia (1.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $44,704,045;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $22,818,886;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $8,371,094;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $7,669,328.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $6,866,008.

The major share of Russian imports from Slovakia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 79.53% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (80.70% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.36% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (8.52% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.27% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (2.72% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.19% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (1.41% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.10% of Russia’s total imports from Slovakia (1.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
