Russia’s Trade with Slovenia

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Slovenia totaled $324,732,343, up 25.15% ($65,254,864) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $89,015,289, up 6.53% ($5,454,457) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $235,717,054, up 33.99% ($59,800,407) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $146,701,765, a 58.84% increase ($54,345,950) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Slovenia was Russia’s 56th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 54th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2324% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2384% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 72nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 69th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1060% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1258% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Slovenia was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 40th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4225% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.4150% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Slovenia

The major share of Russian exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 85.38% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (69.18% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 8.30% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (4.27% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.03% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (24.13% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.11% of Russia’s total exports to Slovenia (0.99% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $18,190,381;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $3,655,349;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $659,068;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $332,109;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $267,462.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 over the 2nd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $16,280,120;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $825,117;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $323,413;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - a decrease of $296,217;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $290,453.

Russia’s Imports from Slovenia

The major share of Russian imports from Slovenia in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 60.75% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (59.15% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 23.76% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (25.42% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.07% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (6.33% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.49% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (3.36% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 2.95% of Russia’s total imports from Slovenia (2.71% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
