Russia’s Trade with Sri Lanka

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Sri Lanka totaled $93,257,484, up 7.20% ($6,267,467) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2017 were $10,720,057, down 42.77% ($8,011,020) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $82,537,427, up 20.92% ($14,278,487) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $71,817,370, a 45.00% increase ($22,289,507) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 87th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 80th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0667% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0799% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 114th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 95th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0128% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0282% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Sri Lanka was Russia’s 62nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (down from 59th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1480% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1610% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Sri Lanka

The major share of Russian exports to Sri Lanka in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 47.75% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (57.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 20.14% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (18.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 19.91% of Russia’s total exports to Sri Lanka (2.22% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
