Russia’s Trade with Vietnam

In the 2nd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Vietnam totaled $1,068,122,304, up 32.98% ($264,925,829) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $261,465,835, up 13.51% ($31,110,871) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2017 totaled $806,656,469, up 40.82% ($233,814,958) from the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2017 was $545,190,634, a 59.19% increase ($202,704,087) over the 2nd quarter of 2016.

Vietnam was Russia’s 26th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 27th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7643% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7380% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Vietnam was Russia’s 46th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3114% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3467% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Vietnam was Russia’s 18th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (up from 19th in the 2nd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.4460% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3513% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Vietnam

The major share of Russian exports to Vietnam in the 2nd quarter of 2017 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 26.95% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (38.62% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 24.06% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (24.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 21.62% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (12.60% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 13.89% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (4.26% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.73% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (2.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.56% of Russia’s total exports to Vietnam (17.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2016).
