Russia’s Trade with Austria

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Austria totaled $908,861,978, up 26.07% ($187,954,611) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Austria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $351,015,005, up 49.35% ($115,979,852) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Austria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $557,846,973, up 14.81% ($71,974,759) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Austria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $206,831,968, a 17.54% decrease ($44,005,093) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Austria was Russia’s 35th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 32nd in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.6217% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5913% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Austria was Russia’s 47th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 49th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.4112% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.3267% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Austria was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9171% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.9722% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Austria

The major share of Russian exports to Austria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.59% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (83.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.13% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (4.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.20% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (2.86% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.03% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (4.22% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.80% of Russia’s total exports to Austria (2.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Other base metals; cermets; articles thereof (HS code 81) - an increase of $2,191,458;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,095,428;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,398,296.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Austria in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $2,693,865;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $2,379,006.
