Russia’s Trade with Belgium

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Belgium totaled $2,348,164,736, up 22.98% ($438,763,571) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Belgium in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,531,177,614, up 22.50% ($281,189,106) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Belgium in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $816,987,122, up 23.90% ($157,574,465) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Belgium in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $714,190,492, a 20.93% increase ($123,614,641) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Belgium was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.6063% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.5661% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Belgium was Russia’s 15th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 12th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.7938% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.7374% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Belgium was Russia’s 16th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.3431% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3194% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Belgium

The major share of Russian exports to Belgium in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 41.19% of Russia’s total exports to Belgium (22.44% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 37.18% of Russia’s total exports to Belgium (49.53% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.87% of Russia’s total exports to Belgium (17.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.14% of Russia’s total exports to Belgium (5.28% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $4,678,532.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Belgium in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $49,923,274;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $20,708,443;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $18,140,495;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $4,693,023.
